Are you eagerly awaiting the next Google Pixel phone? Exciting news suggests that Google might be gearing up to give its future Pixel smartphones a significant performance boost. How so? Well, reports indicate that Google is in talks with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to produce its custom Tensor chips, potentially marking a shift away from Samsung, which has traditionally handled this task.

Up until the Google Pixel 9 series, Samsung has been the go-to for manufacturing these chips. However, TSMC is renowned for producing more efficient System on Chips (SoCs), hinting at a potential leap in performance for upcoming Pixel devices. Rumors are swirling around the Google Pixel 10, suggesting it could run on a TSMC-produced Tensor G5 chip, setting the stage for a remarkable performance upgrade in Google’s flagship lineup.

Earlier discussions hinted at Google adopting a fully in-house design utilizing TSMC’s 3nm process, along with a new Imagination Technologies DXT GPU to replace the current Arm Mali. This recent development of a multi-year deal between Google and TSMC could extend this performance enhancement journey all the way to the Pixel 14, promising a future of powerful and efficient Pixel devices.

In contrast, Samsung has been facing challenges with its chip production, leading to issues like the inability to scale production of its Exynos 2500 chip for the Samsung Galaxy S25 launch. This setback reportedly resulted in a substantial $400 million loss for the company. Even when Samsung manages to produce its Exynos chips, discrepancies arise, with devices in the US and China running on Qualcomm chips that outperform their Samsung counterparts.

The potential shift towards TSMC for Google’s chip manufacturing could signal a significant performance boost for Pixel devices, offering users a seamless and powerful experience. As we eagerly anticipate the unveiling of the Google Pixel 10 and beyond, the prospect of improved performance and efficiency is indeed an exciting development for tech enthusiasts and smartphone users alike.
