Apple’s recent move to automatically reactivate Apple Intelligence, even for users who had previously disabled it, has sparked controversy. The latest iOS update pushes users to embrace AI, disregarding personal preferences. Reports from MacRumors highlight how the update offers no opt-out, leaving users with no choice but to engage with Apple Intelligence.

While it’s possible to disable Apple Intelligence again, the burden shouldn’t fall on users. The update’s covert reactivation of the feature could catch many off guard. To opt out, users must navigate through settings on all their Apple devices supporting Apple Intelligence, such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

This forced inclusion of Apple Intelligence raises concerns beyond inconvenience. The AI feature consumes a significant 7GB of memory, posing challenges for users with limited device space. Additionally, the lack of user consent regarding data usage with AI raises valid privacy worries.

The recurring activation of Apple Intelligence post-updates places the onus on users to constantly monitor and disable the feature if they prefer not to use it. This recurring cycle undermines user autonomy and highlights the need for transparent choices in technology updates.
