Samsung TV owners are in for a treat with a free Netflix upgrade that promises a significant enhancement to their viewing experience. The latest software update brings HDR10+ support to select Samsung TVs and monitors, delivering richer contrast, brighter colors, and enhanced details for a more immersive entertainment experience.
This upgrade is specifically tailored for 2024 and 2025 Samsung Neo QLED, OLED, and Lifestyle TVs, as well as monitors from the same years. If you own an older model, you may have to wait a bit longer for this feature to become available. However, Samsung is committed to expanding HDR10+ support across its product lineup to cater to a broader audience.
Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, highlighted the collaboration with Netflix to bring HDR10+ technology to over 300 million members. This partnership aims to elevate the streaming experience and ensure compatibility with various devices, paving the way for future innovations in the streaming ecosystem.
The limitation on some Samsung TVs stems from Netflix’s use of the AV1 codec for HDR10+ content, which may not be integrated into older models. Despite this, the industry is moving towards a more inclusive viewing experience, with popular titles like “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” and “Bird Box” already supporting HDR10+.
As Samsung continues to evolve its technology and partnerships, users can expect more exciting developments in the streaming landscape. Stay tuned for updates on HDR10+ support and other enhancements that will elevate your Netflix viewing experience on Samsung devices.
