The recent outage of Zoom’s American service has sparked a blame game among involved parties. Zoom attributes the two-hour downtime to a “communications error” between its domain registrar, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy Registry. On the other hand, GoDaddy points fingers back at Markmonitor, indicating a failure in relaying information to Zoom promptly.

The spokesperson for GoDaddy, Kristy Nicholas, highlighted the breakdown in communication where GoDaddy reached out to Markmonitor about an inquiry but failed to see the message relayed to Zoom. Despite following protocol by waiting for a response, GoDaddy eventually implemented a server block due to the lack of action.

In response, Newfold Digital, Markmonitor’s parent company, acknowledged the need to enhance coordination and communication between the involved parties. They emphasized their commitment to addressing these issues for smoother operations in the future.

This incident sheds light on the criticality of effective communication and collaboration among service providers, especially when dealing with high-profile clients like Zoom. It underscores the importance of proactive engagement and swift responses to prevent such disruptions from occurring again in the future.
