Google is taking its Gemini AI assistant to new heights by integrating it with Google Photos. This update allows users to search their photos using natural language queries. For instance, you can ask Gemini to find specific types of photos like “my photos shot from airplane windows” or “recent selfies.”
Moreover, Gemini can recognize relationships set in the Photos app, enabling searches for specific people. The AI assistant can even extract details from your photos upon request. For example, you can ask questions like “what did we eat at the hotel in Stanly?” or “what’s my driver’s license number?”
When Gemini provides search results, tapping on them will seamlessly take you to the Google Photos app. This integration streamlines the process of finding and viewing photos based on your queries.
Currently, this feature is gradually rolling out to selected users. While it’s not yet available on all devices, it offers a glimpse into the future of AI-enhanced photo management. Once active, users can access Google Photos through the Gemini app by navigating to the Apps section in the profile menu.
Google Photos will appear as a toggle option alongside other media apps like Spotify and YouTube. You can prompt Gemini by saying things like ‘my photos’ or ‘@ Google Photos’ to access custom albums from your Google Photos backup.
This update highlights the continuous evolution of AI technology in enhancing user experiences. As Google merges Gemini with Google Photos, it showcases the potential of AI in simplifying tasks and providing more personalized interactions in everyday applications.
