I recently had the opportunity to spend a week with Oppo’s latest powerhouse, the Find X8 Ultra, equipped with a groundbreaking camera system. This device boasts a 1-inch type sensor, surpassing mainstream flagships like the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The impressive sensor allows for better low-light performance and enhanced background blur, akin to professional cameras.

The Find X8 Ultra features a diverse camera setup, including ultrawide, periscope telephoto, and color spectrum sensors—all with 50Mp resolution. Despite its advanced camera capabilities, the phone maintains a sleek design, showcasing Oppo’s engineering prowess. Moreover, the collaboration with Hasselblad brings advanced image processing features like Master Mode and film simulations.

During my photography adventures with the Find X8 Ultra, I was consistently impressed by the quality of the images produced. Whether capturing intricate details in close-ups or distant subjects with the telephoto lenses, the phone delivered vibrant colors and sharpness. The 3x telephoto lens excelled in capturing food and nature shots, while the 6x zoom maintained exceptional quality up to 20x magnification.

In terms of low-light photography, both the main camera and the 3x telephoto lens performed admirably, making them suitable for various shooting scenarios. The selfie camera also stood out for its skin tone accuracy and low-light performance. However, the ultrawide lens, while decent, didn’t offer any standout features compared to the other lenses.

While I hesitate to crown the Oppo Find X8 Ultra as the ultimate camera phone, it certainly competes with other top-tier devices like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Huawei Pura 80 Ultra. The challenge lies in accessibility, as these flagship phones are often challenging to obtain in Western markets. Nonetheless, Oppo’s reemergence in Europe signals a potential international launch for its Ultra series, promising exciting prospects for photography enthusiasts.

As Apple and Samsung continue their market dominance, China’s latest Ultra flagships, including the Oppo Find X8 Ultra, present a compelling option for serious photographers. With continued advancements in camera technology and strategic partnerships like Hasselblad, Oppo is poised to disrupt the smartphone photography landscape. If the Find X8 Ultra becomes more widely available, it could pose a significant threat to established players in the market.
