The tech world is abuzz with a massive leak hinting at Meta’s imminent foray into the realm of smart glasses. The leak, courtesy of established leaker Luna, sheds light on the capabilities of Meta’s upcoming wearable device, tentatively named Meta Celeste.

According to the leaked information, Meta’s smart glasses will be complemented by Ceres wristbands, allowing users to engage with augmented reality content displayed through the glasses. The leaked images also reveal a user interface element that will provide access to apps, notifications, and images captured by the built-in camera.

Control options for the Meta smart glasses include gestures detected by the Ceres wristbands, as well as a touch-sensitive area on the glasses themselves. Additionally, a new Meta AR game called Hypertrail, drawing inspiration from the classic Galaga, is in the works, incorporating the user’s location into gameplay.

The leak hints at an imminent release of Meta’s smart glasses, suggesting that a full launch may be on the horizon. Reports indicate that the Meta Celeste could hit the market sooner rather than later, possibly within the year. This development puts Meta in direct competition with Google’s Android XR smart glasses, which are also slated for release in the near future.

While other players in the AR space, such as TCL and Oppo, have showcased promising projects, Meta and Google, possibly with Samsung’s backing, are spearheading the push towards comprehensive AR experiences that could potentially replace traditional smartphones.

The leaked information implies that Meta might have gained a competitive edge in terms of launch timing over Google. However, it remains to be seen how the two tech giants will ultimately position themselves in the evolving landscape of augmented reality devices. Stay tuned as the race for dominance in the smart glasses market heats up.
